Informal Lunch - Horniman at Hays

In August, during the heatwave, Events Committee member, Liveryman Rob Howard, organised a most enjoyable and successful lunch at the Dickens Inn, St Katharine Docks, by the Tower of London. Following its success Rob organised another one for this month at the Nicholson’s pub, Horniman at Hays, overlooking HMS Belfast.

We intrepid travellers met up at noon on Thursday 17th September to solve some of the World’s major problems, except for Graham Woodhouse who decided to make his entrance at 1 o/clock - you can’t get the staff! Our motley crew consisted of Rob Howard, David Holt, Bruce Hoad, Mick Rollings and, eventually, Graham.

The beer and conversation flowed interrupted only by our lunch. Under normal circumstances the pub would have been heaving but it was strangely quiet due to the pandemic. The only advantage was the table service, no queuing at the bar, just a click of the fingers and our pleasant barmaid came running!

Our next meeting will be at the Civil Service Club, Great Scotland Yard, on Friday 16th October at 12 noon, lockdown restrictions permitting. Please contact Rob Howard for further details.
